“FIRST is more than robots. The robots are a vehicle for students to learn important live skills. Kids often come in not knowing what to expect - of the program nor of themselves. They leave, even after the first season, with a vision, with confidence, and with a sense that they can create their own future.” - Dean Kamen
Chelsea’s participation in FIRST goes beyond robots… we embrace their vision and values in hopes of inspiring our young engineers to become leaders and innovators who demonstrate Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition that can be carried forth into their continuing education and career pursuits.
The Chelsea Robotics Community includes approximately 155 Young Engineers in grades ranging from Kindergarten to 12th.
We are supported by over 50 volunteer mentors from the community who provide their time to make the program a success and positive learning experience for our Young Engineers.
The Chelsea High School Robotics Team is in its 21st year, and we are excited about the expansion of the program to encompass all grade levels and provide mentorship opportunities for older Engineers to encourage Engineers at lower grade levels.
Chelsea Robotics makes participation possible for anyone interested, including those who may not have funds, through Jared’s Fund, which allows any family participating in Chelsea School District’s Free or Reduced Lunch Program to have their robotics registration fee waived.
